Treatment Details

Consultation Required?

Yes — mandatory for safety and candidacy

Is there downtime?

Moderate/Significant — depending on the intensity of your treatment, expect 7–14 days of active healing, with redness, swelling, flaking & potential blistering.

How many treatments are recommended?

Most clients only need one fully ablative CO₂ session, thanks to how powerful and effective this technology is, however, one may be done once every 6 months, depending on the clients’ needs.

When will I see results?

Initial improvement appears once the skin heals at 1-2 weeks. Since fractional CO₂ laser stimulates deep collagen and elastin production, results continue to improve for an additional 3–6 months following treatment, and the results themselves can last for several years.

What the Tetra Pro CO2 Laser Treats

Tighten and contract lax or hooded upper eyelid skin

Smooth crepey, finely wrinkled skin around the eyes

Lift and open the appearance of the upper and lower lid

Reduce undereye wrinkles, fine lines, and crepey skin

Improve texture, thickness, and firmness of eyelid tissue

Create a brighter, more refreshed, less tired look

Stimulate deep collagen remodeling for long-lasting lift and results

How the Tetra Pro Fractional Ablative CO2 Works

The Tetra Pro CO₂ Fractional Ablative Laser is a 10,600 nm carbon dioxide laser that delivers precise ablation and controlled thermal energy deep into the dermis. In its fractional mode, it treats microscopic columns of skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact to promote faster healing. For clients needing more dramatic results, the fully ablative setting removes almost 100% of the top skin layer in the treated area while simultaneously heating deeper structures, stimulating powerful collagen and elastin remodeling. This advanced technology improves wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and skin laxity on the face, neck, or chest, with results that continue to enhance over several months for smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

What to Expect

The LaseMD Ultra Process

Consultation

Your provider will examine the eyelid area and determine whether you are a strong candidate for ablative CO₂ treatment. Ideal candidates typically experience:

  • Hooding of the upper eyelid
  • Mild to severe excess skin
  • Crepey texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • A “tired” or heavy-lid appearance
  • Mild brow descent
  • Desire for bleph-like tightening without surgeryWe will also discuss your goals, expected recovery, eye shield requirements, claustrophobia history, assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, and determine whether you are a candidate (note: this treatment is approved only for Fitzpatrick 1–3), and any pre-treatment instructions such as avoiding retinoids or sun exposure. We will set honest expectations on how much downtime you will need to expect (most men and women need 7-10 days). You will also be guided through pretreatment skincare, medication protocols (if needed), and the healing timeline. Before + afters will be reviewed so you know exactly what to expect.

Treatment

On treatment day, a topical numbing ointment is applied approximately one hour before your session to ensure comfort. Your skin is then thoroughly cleansed and prepped. When treating the eyelids up to the lash line, medical-grade internal ocular shields are mandatory. These shields protect the eyes while allowing us to safely and precisely treat closer to the lash line than nearly any other CO₂ device. Numbing eye drops are applied before the shields are gently placed, and additional topical anesthetic is placed on the back side of the shields for optimal comfort.

Your provider then performs customized fractional CO₂ resurfacing using the Tetra Pro laser, carefully selecting treatment depth and intensity based on your skin type, anatomy, and goals. During treatment, the laser precisely ablates the upper and/or lower eyelid skin to stimulate tightening, lifting, and resurfacing. Most clients experience warmth or a light snapping sensation, which is well tolerated with topical numbing. The full appointment typically lasts 30–50 minutes.

Immediately following treatment, a calming mask is applied to soothe the skin and support healing. You’ll receive a comprehensive aftercare review along with a take-home recovery kit that includes ZO® Accelerated Firming Serum, Hydrating Crème, Soothing Mist, a gentle cleanser, Vaseline, and vinegar soak instructions—everything needed to optimize healing and results from home.

After treatment, expect warmth, tightness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation. Swelling, redness, flaking, crusting, or blistering are common and typically last 7–10 days, particularly with eyelid treatments. Tiny red dots may appear the following day—these are microthermal treatment zones (MTZs), indicating where damaged skin was removed and collagen remodeling has begun. Most clients are able to drive themselves home but feel free to bring a driver—they can wait in our comfortable lobby are until you are finished.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for non-surgical eyelid tightening with the Tetra Pro CO₂ laser?

Individuals with hooded lids, crepey eyelid skin, fine lines, and mild to moderate laxity who want improvement without surgery.

Does this replace a surgical upper blepharoplasty?

Not fully — but it offers the closest non-surgical result available. Many clients achieve a significant lift and reduction of hooding without needing surgery.

Are ocular eye shields required?

Yes. Because the treatment goes up to the lash line, internal eye shields are mandatory for safety. If you are claustrophobic, please let your provider know.

Is the treatment painful?

Numbing drops and topical anesthetic along with topical ointment make the procedure very tolerable

What is recovery like?

Expect significant swelling, redness, tightness, crusting, and sensitivity for several days. Complete healing typically occurs within 7–10 days, with continued improvement over several months.

How many treatments are needed?

Most clients need one ablative session for dramatic eyelid rejuvenation. Some may choose a second after 6–12 months for further tightening if they choose and depending on their skin laxity in the eye area.

How long do results last?

Results are long-lasting (years), especially with sun protection, skincare, and maintenance treatments as recommended.
