Finally—A Treatment That Actually Improves Melasma.
A Smarter, Gentler Approach to Stubborn Pigmentation
If you have melasma, you already know the frustration: creams that promise everything, lasers that make it worse, and cycles of improvement followed by relapse. Melasma isn’t just a surface pigment issue—it’s a chronic, inflammation-driven condition that requires precision, restraint, and the right technology.
That’s where LaseMD Ultra comes in.
LaseMD Ultra is a non-ablative fractional laser specifically suited for treating melasma because it works with the skin, not against it. Using a targeted 1927 nm wavelength, it gently addresses excess pigment in the upper layers of the skin while minimizing heat, trauma, and inflammation—three major triggers known to worsen melasma.
Rather than aggressively stripping or overheating the skin, LaseMD Ultra creates microscopic treatment zones that stimulate healthy cell turnover and enhance the penetration of pigment-correcting serums. This approach allows us to gradually lighten discoloration, strengthen the skin barrier, and reduce the likelihood of rebound pigmentation.
At Juniper Face + Figure, we treat melasma with respect. That means individualized treatment plans, conservative settings, and a long-term strategy focused on skin health—not quick fixes.
If you’ve been told to “just live with it,” or you’ve tried treatments that left you disappointed, LaseMD Ultra offers a more thoughtful, science-backed option.

How the LaseMD Ultra Treats Melasma
For melasma specifically, LaseMD Ultra is a fractional, non-ablative laser that works by targeting pigment at a deeper level while preserving the skin’s surface. Melasma occurs when melanocytes overproduce melanin, often due to sun exposure, hormones, or inflammation. The laser’s microchannels allow energy to break up clusters of melanin and stimulate cellular turnover, helping to disperse pigment more evenly. At the same time, the treatment triggers collagen production and strengthens the skin barrier, which helps prevent future pigment buildup. Its non-ablative nature is especially important for melasma-prone skin, as it minimizes the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Combined with proper pre- and post-treatment care—including sun protection and topical brightening agents—LaseMD Ultra can significantly improve the appearance of melasma over a series of treatments.

What to Expect
The LaseMD Ultra Process for Melasma
1
Consultation
Enjoy a complimentary consultation with one of our expert staff members to learn exactly how LaseMD Ultra can help improve melasma and other pigmentation concerns. Review several Before + After examples from our very own special Juniper clients. Have all questions answered prior to scheduling your series of LaseMD Ultra treatments (usually 3 sessions, spaced 3–4 weeks apart). We may provide you with a skin care protocol for effectively suppressing pigment before your first melasma treatment to ensure we help prevent rebound pigment. We’ll also provide you with a gentle numbing cream to apply to your skin 30 minutes prior to your first appointment to ensure your comfort during treatment.
2
Treatment
At your first LaseMD Ultra treatment for melasma, we’ll start by gently cleansing your skin to prepare the treatment area. A light numbing cream will already be in place to keep you comfortable throughout the session. Before we begin, we’ll take time to answer any remaining questions and review what to expect.
The laser treatment itself is performed thoughtfully and at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Most clients tolerate the treatment very well. Once the session is complete, we’ll apply a calming, hydrating serum specifically selected to support melasma-prone skin.
For added comfort, we also offer optional cooling masks ($25) that can be worn home or applied once you return home. It’s normal for your skin to look slightly pink or feel warm for a few hours after treatment.
Before you leave, we’ll provide clear post-treatment instructions so you feel confident caring for your skin and supporting optimal results as it heals.

Results
Post-treatment, your skin may appear slightly pink or feel warm, but downtime is minimal. Over the following days and weeks, the laser promotes cellular turnover, disperses pigment, and stimulates collagen, gradually improving texture, tone, and the appearance of melasma or other pigmentation concerns. Optimal results are typically seen after a series of treatments, combined with diligent sun protection and at-home skin care.
