When will I see results?

Consultation
A detailed consultation is required to determine if fully ablative CO₂ is right for your skin type, goals, and healing capacity. We will review your medical history, discuss expectations, assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, and determine whether you are a candidate (note: this treatment is approved only for Fitzpatrick 1–3). We will set honest expectations on how much downtime you will need to expect (most men and women need 7-10 days). You will also be guided through pretreatment skincare, medication protocols (if needed), and the healing timeline. Before + afters will be reviewed so you know exactly what to expect.

Treatment
On treatment day, you will apply numbing ointment an hour before your treatment to keep you as comfortable as possible. Your skin will then be cleansed thoroughly.
If treating the eyelids up to the lash line, numbing eye drops and internal ocular shields will be placed to protect the eyes.
Your provider will perform your CO₂ resurfacing using controlled depth and precision, customizing the settings based on your goals, skin type, and skin needs. Once the treatment is finished, we will then put on a calming mask to promote healing and soothe the skin. Aftercare will then be discussed and we will go over the take home products that we give you, our ZO SKIN HEALTH accelerated firming serum, Hydrating Creme, and Soothing Mist, along with a gentle cleanser, vaseline, vinegar soaks—are all included in your package.
Expect the skin to feel hot and warm, tight, swelling, and a “sunburned” sensation immediately following treatment. The day after treatment, it is very normal to experience tiny red dots, which are called microthermal treatment zones (MTZs). They correspond to the tiny columns of skin that the fractional CO₂ laser treated.
Each dot represents an area where the laser ablated damaged skin and stimulated collagen production.

Results
Day 0: Skin is red, warm, and slightly swollen; tiny red dots (microthermal zones) are visible but may appear the day after treatment. Skin may feel tight or sensitive; mild oozing or crusting can occur in the first few days. Apply recommended ointment and avoid sun and sweating. Keep skin exceptionally clean for the first few days!
Days 1–3: You will be the most swollen when you wake up. Redness could intensify; small scabs or peeling appear. Skin feels tender. Continue gentle cleansing and moisturizing.
Days 4–7: Scabs begin flaking off; redness softens. Microdots fade, and subtle smoothness may appear.
Week 2: Most healing is complete. Skin tone evens; firmness and texture improvements are noticeable.
Weeks 3–6: Collagen remodeling continues; skin becomes smoother, firmer, and brighter.
Months 2–6: Full results develop as deep tissue remodeling progresses. Wrinkles, scars, and sun damage improve, leaving long-lasting rejuvenation.
Tips: Avoid picking, follow post-care instructions, use sunscreen, and stay hydrated for best results.

The risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring is significantly higher in deeper skin tones due to melanin-producing cells reacting strongly to heat. Ablative CO₂ removes the entire surface layer of the skin, making it unsuitable for Fitzpatrick 4–6.
- Is the treatment painful?

Most our of clients say it is mildly painful. However, with our comfort measures such as topical numbing ointment reapplied twice before your treatment and our post treatment cooling masks, make the procedure very manageable. Sensations may include heat, pressure, or “snapping.”
- What can I expect for downtime, honestly?

You can be significantly swollen for the first 1-4 days after treatment, with everyday improving, as your body heals itself. Redness can persist longer.
- How long do results last?

- Can I combine this with other treatments?

- I struggle with moderate to severe anxiety. Would this be a proper treatment for me to receive?

Although most people feel anxious before getting a Tetra Pro CO2 Ablative laser, those who struggle with moderate to severe anxiety are often times not the best candidates given the prolonged swelling and healing that occurs after receiving treatment. We advise clients who are anxious to research and discuss all questions with our medical staff prior to considering this treatment.
- If I can’t commit to 7-10 days of downtime, do you have any other options that might suit me better?

Yes! The TetraPro CO2 Laser has a setting called the “CoolPeel.” The CoolPeel still maintains phenomenal results, but more sessions are required to earn yourself dramatic effects to slow natural aging. Downtime for the CoolPeel is usually between 1-3 days and you will not get significantly swollen like you would with the more powerful and intense settings.
- I’m not interested in an ablative laser treatment at this time. Do you offer a non-ablative option at Juniper?
